Loving God with all of our heart, soul, mind and strength. In all that we do and in all areas of our lives. Understanding that worship is not just an action but also a lifestyle.
John 4:23-24 "A time is coming and has now come when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for they are the kind of worshipers the Father seeks. God is spirit, and his worshipers must worship in spirit and in truth."
Matt 22:35-39
"Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?" Jesus replied:
"'Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all
your mind.' This is the first and greatest commandment."
Seeking to build caring relationships with other believers that lead to mutual spiritual health and growth.
Eccles. 4:9-12
"Two people can accomplish more than twice as much as one; they get a better
return for their labor. If one person falls, the other can reach out and help.
But people who are alone when they fall are in real trouble. And on a cold night,
two under the same blanket can gain warmth from each other. But how can one be
warm alone? A person standing alone can be attacked and defeated, but two can
stand back-to-back and conquer. Three are even better, for a triple-braided cord
is not easily broken."
Having a value for giving and a life that reflects it. First, this includes giving to God with our whole life - devoting our time, energy, finances and resources to God's purposes. Secondly, this means caring for the needs of others with the community of believers. And third, giving to the needs of those in the world around us.
Acts 2:42-47
"They joined with the other believers and devoted themselves to the apostles'
teaching and fellowship, sharing in the Lord's Supper and in prayer. A deep
sense of awe came over them all, and the apostles performed many miraculous
signs and wonders. And all the believers met together constantly and shared
everything they had. They sold their possessions and shared the proceeds with
those in need. They worshiped together at the Temple each day, met in homes
for the Lord's Supper, and shared their meals with great joy and generosity-
all the while praising God and enjoying the goodwill of all the people. And
each day the Lord added to their group those who were being saved."
Hebrews 10:24-25
"And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds.
Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but
let us encourage one another--and all the more as you see the Day approaching."
Life change is our purpose at Legacy so we believe every follower of Christ needs to be maturing in their walk, applying biblical truths to bring about transformation in our life.
2 Peter 1:5-11
"For this very reason, make every effort to add to your faith goodness; and to
goodness, knowledge; and to knowledge, self-control; and to self-control,
perseverance; and to perseverance, godliness; and to godliness, brotherly kindness;
and to brotherly kindness, love. For if you possess these qualities in increasing
measure, they will keep you from being ineffective and unproductive in your knowledge
of our Lord Jesus Christ. But if anyone does not have them, he is nearsighted and
blind, and has forgotten that he has been cleansed from his past sins. Therefore,
my brothers, be all the more eager to make your calling and election sure. For if you
do these things, you will never fall, and you will receive a rich welcome into the
eternal kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ."
Caring for and reaching out to the lost around us; intentionally building relationships to win people to Christ.
Luke 4:18
"The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, for he has appointed me to preach Good News
to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim that captives will be released, that the
blind will see, that the downtrodden will be freed from their oppressors."
Romans 10:13-14 (LB)
"Anyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved. But who can ask them to
save them unless they believe in him? And how can they believe in him if they have
never heard about him? And how can they hear about him unless someone tells them?"
Matthew 5:13-15 (The Message)
"Let me tell you why you are here. You're here to be salt-seasoning, You're here to be
light. God is not a secret to be kept. We're going public with this, as public as a city
on a hill. If I make you light bearers, you don't think I'm going to hide you under a
bucket, do you? I'm putting you on a light stand. Now that I've put you there on a
hilltop, on a light stand - shine!"
